Recommendations for further reading:

As a supplement to therapy, we often recommend books and articles that may provide further clarification and insight into life’s questions. Here are some books we have read and recommend:

pregnancy & postpartum:

  • Postpartum Support International Helpline: 1-800-944-4773

  • Postpartum Support International - Contains a directory of therapists and providers who are perinatal mental health certified (PMH-C) as well as offering free groups for NICU, postpartum and pregnancy issues, loss, and more.

  • Queer Birth Project - resources, guides, education and support for queer folks in fertility, pregnancy, birth, and early parenting

  • Help for Dads - through PSI these resources are specifically focused on dads wellbeing and issues that dads deal with

  • DONA doula finder - a certified birth doula can help you stay comfortable and empowered during your birth. Postpartum doulas can help with the transition to the home, taking care of mama and cooking too. Check with insurance to see if they may cover all or a portion of doula service!

  • I recommend pelvic floor physical therapy to new moms regardless of delivery method.

Pregnancy Loss:

  • Parents experiencing bereavement can feel isolated, lost, and overwhelmed. This is normal. Here is a guide for bereaved parents. RTZ Hope also provides support groups.

  • This guide to early pregnancy loss from RTZ Hope contains advice and information to know about miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy and blighted ovum

  • The Sad Dads Club is a space for bereaved fathers. This is a wonderful and supportive community, also offering podcasts, information, and other resources.
