Meet Dr. Alejandra Feliz
There are times in life when you might feel lost or disconnected from what is meaningful. Life can feel like you’re going through the motions, focused only on others needs, or feeling too anxious or stressed to know where to start. Often, I work with people who are outwardly successful but internally struggling - there may be feelings of anxiety, worry, and discomfort. Working together, we can make those disparate parts feel more aligned.
Individual Therapy
I believe therapy can provide a safe and supportive space for us to explore what you want out of life. Together, we can work towards uncovering the influences and patterns that have been preventing you from living your best life. I believe creating a deep understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors gives you the opportunity to move through life mindfully and intentionally.
Couples Therapy
My focus when working with couples and families is to use a collaborative and open approach to identify patterns and behaviors that are leading you to feel stuck. I understand that opening up about your relationship can be anxiety provoking - my utmost priority is to create a space where each party feels understood, supported, and respected.
I guide conversations to explore the core values both parties seek in relationships, common goals, and ways to improve communication and foster more positive experiences together. At times, I may use between session assignments for couples to try out different techniques in their day to day. I incorporate elements of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to highlight the cycles that couples often get trapped in, while promoting empathy, compassion and understanding between partners. In doing so, I hope to restore the emotional bonds that sometimes are weakened by disappointment and alienation from one another.
Whether your partner is in the room or not, I focus on present and past relationships, in order to deepen understanding of lifelong relational patterns and how they might be showing up in the here and now. My style is warm, genuine, and gentle, with appropriate humor and guided by CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic work. Have questions or want to know more? Reach out below!
