Teen DBT Group - Starting Soon

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Group for Teens aged 13-17

Beginning mid-October, 2026

The Centered Space warmly offers an in person, small group DBT-skills for teens aged 13-17. We are also gauging interest in an online group for teens in NY.

Joining our DBT group can help build awareness of emotions, skillfully cope with overwhelming feelings, and learn healthier ways to respond to difficult or impulsive behaviors. The group will provide practical, real-life tools to help teens:

· Better understand and manage emotions
· Handle stress and overwhelming moments
· Reduce overthinking and build mindfulness
· Respond to difficult or impulsive behaviors in healthier ways
· Navigate friendships and relationships
· Communicate more effectively and set boundaries
· Build confidence and feel more in control

The group will be supportive, interactive, and focused on skills teens can actually use in their everyday lives. Teens can maintain their current therapist while attending The Centered Space Teen DBT group.

Group itinerary

Teen DBT Group schedule

Teen DBT meets for 75 minutes, weekly.

At each group session, we will collaboratively establish and review the group rules, check in with each member, review previous week’s skill and challenges implementing the skill, learn about a new module or skill, and practice implementing the new skill as a group.

This is a tentative plan and subject to change as needed by the group. A 5-min break may be added if necessary.

Core DBT Skills

Based on the makeup of the group, the leader will decide how many sessions to focus on each of the four DBT modules and their skills:

Mindfulness - learning to stay present and observe thoughts, emotions, and experiences without immediately reacting to them

Emotion Regulation - understanding emotions and developing strategies to manage intense or difficult feelings

Interpersonal Effectiveness - learning how to communicate needs, establish boundaries, navigate conflict, and build healthier relationships

Distress Tolerance - building skills to cope with overwhelming moments without making the situation worse

As your next step, set up a free consultation with Dr. Michelle Sidhom, to discuss whether our group will be a good fit and to share information.
